June 11- Flat Stanley Brayden’s Adventure Blog: Golden Circle Wonders, Secret Lagoon Splash, and a Tasty Icelandic Feast!

Hey, explorers! Flat Stanley Brayden here, and today was one of the most exciting days of our whole trip—Iceland’s Golden Circle, a warm swim in the Secret Lagoon, and a big, yummy dinner to celebrate our adventure. Let’s dive in!

Morning: Exploring the Golden Circle
We started our day with a drive along Iceland’s famous Golden Circle. This is a special route that takes you to some of the most amazing natural wonders in the country—all in one day!

Þingvellir National Park:
Our first stop was Þingvellir (say “THING-vet-leer”), a huge park full of history and cool rocks. Did you know that Iceland’s first parliament met here over 1,000 years ago? We walked between giant cracks in the ground where two tectonic plates are slowly pulling apart. It felt like walking between continents!

We made a unplanned stop to see horses.

Geysir Geothermal Area:
Next, we visited a place called Geysir. Here, hot water shoots out of the ground in big bursts! The biggest geyser (named Geysir) doesn’t go off much anymore, but its little brother, Strokkur, shoots water up to 30 meters high every 8–10 minutes. I kept my camera ready and got splashed a little—so fun!

Fun Fact:
Gullfoss means “Golden Falls,” and over 100,000 liters of water plunge into the canyon every second!

Afternoon: The Secret Lagoon
After all that walking and exploring, it was time to relax at the Secret Lagoon in Flúðir. This is the oldest swimming pool in Iceland, built way back in 1891! The water is naturally warm—about 38–40°C (100–104°F)—and comes straight from hot springs under the ground. There’s even a little geyser nearby that spouts every few minutes!

We changed into our swimsuits, took a quick shower, and jumped in. The water felt amazing, and steam rose all around us, making the whole place look magical. I floated around, watched the geyser, and even made some new friends.

Travel Tip:
The Secret Lagoon is super relaxing, and you can stay as long as you want. There’s a bar and a bistro if you get hungry or thirsty!

Evening: Culinary Finale
After our swim, we got dressed and headed to a special restaurant for our culinary finale. Iceland is famous for its tasty food, so we tried lots of local dishes:

Icelandic Lamb: Super tender and full of flavor.

Fresh Seafood: We had fish stew called “Plokkfiskur” and some grilled salmon.

Skyr: A creamy Icelandic yogurt that’s a bit like pudding.

Homemade Ice Cream: For dessert, of course!

Everything was delicious, and we laughed and shared stories about our favorite parts of the trip.

Question for You
If you could visit a waterfall, a hot spring, or a famous restaurant, which would you choose? What would you most like to try or see?

That’s all for today, friends! Tomorrow is our last day in Iceland, but I’ll never forget the Golden Circle, the Secret Lagoon, or all the tasty food we tried. Stay tuned for more adventures with Flat Stanley Brayden!

Bless bless (that’s “bye bye” in Icelandic) for now!
